ABOUT
US:
Backcountry
Montana Adventures, located in Twin Bridges, Montana, was founded by Mike
and Carrie
in 2003.
Mike
was born into a Montana pioneering family with roots in this area dating
back to 1865. He has called this area home all his life. Mike grew up
hunting, fishing and exploring these very same mountains. With his
lifetime of knowledge and love for the mountains you will not find a more
capable outdoorsman to guide you. Mike has been guiding for more than 20
years.
Carrie
moved to Montana in 2000 to finish her college education. As a non-
traditional student her professors soon learned about her determination to
learn all about this area. That is exactly what she did. Carrie graduated
in 2002 with a B.A. in Environmental Science. She has enjoyed her new life
here in Montana. Carrie is fast becoming an experienced fisherman, nature
guide and hunter. Come experience the mountains with her.

HUNTING:
Backcountry
Montana Adventures offers fair chase archery and rifle hunts for all big
game species as well as mountain lion hunts and photo safaris. We outfit
in the same area our family has hunted for over 40 years. Southwest
Montana is known for its large elk numbers as well as a great bull to
cow ratio. This area of Montana has always provided a very high success
rate for hunters.
Our
capable hunting guides bring into camp more than 140 years of combined
hunting experience. Their experience and knowledge will assist you in
having the hunt of your dreams. All our guides are native Montanans who
share a love for the land and the creatures that inhabit it.
Archery
season opens the beginning of September and lasts through much of
October. Rifle season begins the last of October and runs for five
consecutive weeks ending the Sunday after Thanksgiving. With elk and
deer combination hunts being our specialty, we also offer antelope,
moose and mountain lion hunts.
Hunting
camp consists of comfortable wall tents with large wood stoves to keep
you warm on those chilly nights. Beds and/or cots come complete with
mattresses and/or pads to ensure a good night's rest. A delicious
variety of food is served in large quantities and losing weight is not
on our menu.
Four wheel drive vehicles, hiking and horses are used to access
the animals. Using all modes of transportation allows us to be very
mobile, thus keeping you in the animals at all times.
Women only hunts are available to those looking for that special
hunt. We recognize that you are an important part of the hunting
heritage and welcome you to southwest Montana.
Your
success is very important to us. Through our commitment, expertise and
experience Backcountry Montana Adventures has established a relationship
with our clients that will last a lifetime! Our belief in customer
satisfaction will keep you coming back year after year.
FISHING:
Looking
for a fishing trip that you will cherish for a lifetime? You have come
to the right place. Beginner or expert, you will experience the time of
your life. We offer fishing trips on the four blue ribbon trout streams
located in southwest Montana - Beaverhead, Big Hole, Ruby and the
Madison. Our guides will help you catch big fish using small flies.
The Beaverhead is a small tail water that is the size of a spring
creek. This river has a large native population of fish over 18 inches.
Have you ever dreamed of catching a 20 inch trout or larger on a size 16
or smaller, dry or nymph? If so, come on out! The Beaverhead
is a great river for spot and stalk fishing. We access the river using
drift boats, allowing us to fish all the hot spots.
The Big Hole river is a free stone river that has five native
types of trout to taunt even the best fisherman. With fish ranging in
size from 10 inches to over 25 inches, you will be amazed at the quality
of fish you will catch. This river boasts a large population of brown,
rainbow, brook and cutthroat trout and even the occasional cutbow. The
Big Hole is the only river in the lower 48 to support a native
population of arctic grayling to add to the fun. Drift boats are
used to access this river.
If your search leads you to a trip in the mountains, we fish
mountain lakes and streams teaming with trout. These areas are
accessed by 4X4 vehicles and hiking. Both brook and cutthroat
trout are waiting for your presentation. These trips include, at no
additional cost, abundant wildlife and high mountain vistas for your
enjoyment. Bring that light action fly rod and have a ball!!!
