BIG RACK TROPHY CLUB

Welcome to Big Rack Trophy Club located at Pinetops, North Carolina. Our county is Edgecombe, and we are just outside Rocky Mount, Wilson, Greenville, and Tarboro if your looking on a map. We started this club in 2006 with the idea of using  Quality Deer Management ethics and ideas and good sportsmanship as a backbone for a good deer hunting club. What is unique about this club is that we never close, we are always working on it every month to get ready for the upcoming deer season. We practice 100% still hunting only with no dog hunting allowed. We offer numerous community stands and over 25 acres of both warm and cool weather food plots. In addition to the food plots and agriculture fields on the farms, we supplement feed all year in feeding bins that are spread out among the farms. We believe you need to put the right stuff in their bodies to get the end product we are looking for.... Big Horns ... Our farms consist of everything a hunter is looking for from cut-overs to creek bottoms. Our club is made up of five farms and all are within a five minute drive from the clubhouse. One farm is set up for archery/crossbow hunting only and all others are by any legal means according to the laws and regulations set by the North Carolina Wildlife Commission. We provide everything for any level of hunting skills our members are at.  All you have to provide is the time to come up and hunt or fish at Big Rack.

Land:
We have approx. 2400 acres covering on five different farms. Each farm is located
within 5 minutes from the clubhouse and they all circle the town of
Pinetops. These farms consist of hardwood ridges, pine thickets, agriculture
fields, pastures, CRP land, cut overs, creek bottoms, swamps, ponds, and
the Tar River runs through two of the farms. So you can find what ever type of hunting terrain you like hunting in.

Water:
We have over 5 fishing ponds with excellent bass, crappie, bream, and
catfish possibilities. We also have the Tar River and Town Creek on our lease
available for your fishing needs.

Food Plots:
We plant over 25 acres of food plots each year consisting of clover,
chickory, beans, corn, and other various plants. We also put out feeding
stations all year with supplemental minerals and vitamins to go along with
what we have in the ground. We provide these for all stages of the deers
growing times to include both antler growth and fawn production.

Stands:
We have over 20 community stands already up located over existing food
plots. These stands are made up of box stands, wooden ladder stands,
metal ladder stands, metal tri-pods, mobile ground blinds, and for those
serious diehards we have a few loc-ons and climbers available.

Skinning Shed:

We just built a new skinning shed in 2006 with running water, electric
and accessories like tables, saws, and a knife sharping wheel to take care of your harvest.

Walk in Cooler:
We have a 6' x 10' walk in cooler with hanging racks and tray racks for your harvest..

Storage:
We do have very limited lockable storage on site.

Shooting Range:
Our range allows you to be able to shoot from 50 yards up to 300 yards and
includes a solid wooden shooting bench, with "The sled" shooting vise, spotting scope,
and mobile target stands for sighting in any type of weapon. We do have a few archery targets set up for you to practice your bow hunting skills as well.

Clubhouse:
We have a newly remolded two story clubhouse with dining room, full kitchen, full bathroom, living room, and four bedrooms that can handle over night stays for over 25 members a night. We have three lockable rooms with a total of 16 bunks that our members can lease a bunk for $50.00 a year and only those members in that room will have keys to that room. This will allow the member to leave personal equipment or clothes at the club and also allow the member to set up their bunk as they like it.  Leased bunks come as a first come first serve basis and once they are leased than its that members bunk for the year.  We have one large bunk room upstairs that will allow 16 members to stay over night in our clubhouse. The one time only fee will cover all utilities like water, elcectric, gas, sat. t.v., and small amounts of supplies.  All guest will have to pay a $10.00 per night fee to stay in the clubhouse and this has to be paid before he or she can hunt.

Game:
We offer to our members and their families the opportunity to hunt quality deer, small game, and fishing during the hunting and fishing seasons. All small game hunting is to be conducted once deer season is over. We offer turkey hunting only on one of the farms due to low numbers and other land owner conditions. All duck and goose hunting is to be done on the Main Farm and Schoolhouse Farm.  Our main game is deer and we do everything to give our members a chance to take home a trophy of a lifetime.  Just remember though that Big Rack is a deer hunting club first and anything else is just a added bonus at Big Rack.

The three main objectives of the club are:

*  To foster good sportsmanship among club members;
*  To encourage social interaction among members; and
*  To provide club members the opportunity to harvest mature, trophy class whitetail bucks.

In order to achieve our objectives, the club rules and procedures – explained in considerable detail below – have been put forth with the principles of QDM (Quality Deer Management) in mind. These rules are also provided to help develop and maintain the Big Rack Trophy Club properties as exceptional places to hunt, fish, view wildlife, and form lasting friendships with fellow club members. Since the club has been established as a trophy club, we will have no tolerance for violation of State or Federal Game Laws, and just as importantly, for violations of the club rules and procedures set forth below. Each Member’s understanding and acceptance of the rules will make every hunting season a safe, pleasant, and productive one for all. Failure to adhere to these rules may result in the loss of club membership, annually and possibly permanently, with no monies being refunded.

 DEER STAND HUNTING RULES:

1.  Each member is allowed one stand that they provide and put up on their own to be called their " Honeyhole " stand. This is stand is only hunted by that member or anyone he or she gives permission to hunt.  This stand will remain a honeyhole stand through the first two full weeks of rifle season. Once the following monday comes, all  honeyhole stands will become communtiy stands. The member who declared that stand a honeyhole stand will get first rights to it when he or she is at the club. If that member chooses to hunt another stand that day his or her honeyhole stand will become a community stand at that point.  All other stands put up by the member are to be community stands from the get go. You must make aware of your honeyhole stand to the club manager so he can mark it so on the maps.

2. All stands put up by a member must be made aware of to the club manager. This is so he can mark them on the maps and also let you know if there are any other stands in the area that could be a safety issue.  Failure to make aware of a stand and this stand is found on the farms without being marked on the map will result in the stand being taken down and sold back to the owner for $50.00.

3. All members and thier family members get first bids on club stands. Once all members and their family has picked a stand to hunt, all guest will be allowed to pick a stand. If you stay the night you can pick a stand the night before but otherwise you cannot pick a stand until 2 hours before sunrise. Once you pick a stand it is yours for the day even though you come back to the clubhouse for lunch or a nap. If you do not plan on going back to that stand you picked in the mourning you must declare this stand open and sign off from it once you come back to the clubhouse.

4. No honeyhole stands can be declared on the Hwy 33 or the Knight Farm.

5. If you plan on using a climber on any of the farms, you must tag out the stand closest to the area you are planning on hunting and mark on the map where you are going to be.

6. No stand can be placed within 300 yards of another stand unless approved by the club manager. This again is for safety as well as respect to other members who might be hunting that stand you are close too.

7. July 1st is the deadline to put up any stand that will result in cutting in trails, shooting lanes, or using four wheelers to do so during the week. This is the time we are letting the farms go into quiet mode and let the deer get into their hunting movement patterns.  You can still put up stands but you must be able to do so without causing loud disturbances in the woods with chainsaws or other noisey equipment.

8. All members must get with any other member in the area they chose to hunt to go over when to go to and when to leave their stands for that days hunt.  No one wants to be in there stand earlier and than at day break have another member come walking down the trail to get to their stand. If you show up late and you see you have to wak by another member who has already gone to their stand, than you need to pick another stand location.

10. When it comes to getting your animal out of the area. You must wait until all hunting in that area is completed before you can go in and get your deer with a four wheeler, truck, or cart. There will be no blood trailing until all hunting is done in that area as well. Once you find your deer, there is to be no field dressing due to the bear population we have and don't want to come face to face with one over a gut pile.

11. All stand placement, scouting, and putting out corn will be done on SUNDAYS ONLY after July 1st. The only exception is if you carry in the corn in as you walk to your stand location. NO EXCEPTIONS

12. No cutting of pine trees or trees bigger than 3" for trails or shooting lanes.

13. No building of wooden stands into trees or pounding in nails or lags into trees.

14. No shooting of your weapon of any type is to be done while walking in or out from a stand. You don't know if someone is sitting on the ground and came in after you went to your stand.

15. No smoking or using the bathroom while in, going, or coming from your stand. Use a bottle if you need to go to the bathroom and bring the bottle out with you.. Remember, you are not the only one who is using that stand this year.

16. No trash of any type can be left in or around the stands. Includes water bottles, candy wrappers, magazines, or pee bottles.

17. Club Managers have the right to have you move or take down any stand they feel is a safety issue.

If any member fails to sign out once they are done and cause a member to stay behind to make sure everyone is in will result in a $25.00 fine and the $25.00 goes to the member who had to do the waiting.  This is all about safety.
