What
is Ultra Walnut?
Ultra Walnut is a real wood product made with Coastal Gunstock and Sports
Supply's proprietary, patent pending, Carbon Fiber Laminate (CFL)
Technology. Ultra Walnut is NOT a wrap, overlay, or laser-effect process
that simulates wood grain.
For shotgun stocks, two pieces of walnut are sandwiched around a layer of
carbon fiber. The carbon fiber shows up as a small black line visible on
the top and bottom of the stock and lends stability and strength to the
stock.
For rifle stocks, we use three layers of wood and two layers of carbon
fiber. Again, two layers of walnut are sandwiched around a layer of carbon
fiber, a third layer of walnut (or other fine wood, such as mahogany or
rosewood) and another layer of carbon fiber.
These stocks provide the stability associated with laminate stocks and the
great look and feel of traditional walnut.
What grades of walnut does Coastal Gunstock use?
Ultra Walnut uses three grades of North American Walnut. These are
Standard (A) Grade, Fancy (B and C) Grade, and
Extra-Fancy (D and above) Grade. Fancy Grade is considered to be a
minimum of 30% figure on both side panels, while Extra Fancy Grade is
considered to be a minimum of 75% figure on both side panels (a side panel
is defined as the area behind the grip of the stock). Figure can be
feather, burl, fiddleback, and cathedral-type grain with good color.
Do stocks from Coastal Gunstock require professional
fitting?
All of the stocks sold on CoastalGunstocksportsSupply.com are fully
finished and meant to be drop-in, ready-to-assemble stocks. Our
stocks are NOT semi-inletted or partially finished. Coastal Gunstock staff
assemble each and every stock and fore end to a gun of the appropriate
model before it is shipped to ensure proper fit. However, because of
variations in factory metal among like firearms there is no guarantee that
the stock or fore end will fit each barreled action in the same manner it
fits our House actions

Turn your 10/22 into a real tack driver. Our
thumbhole stock is crafted from sturdy Rutland laminate. It features
an ergonomic thumbhole design with integrated palm swell and a high
cheekpiece and comb to aid in scope alignment. The fore end is flat
for stable shooting off the bench, and at apploximately 2" wide offers
superior stability yet is still comfortable when shooting off-hand.
The stock features a thin recoil pad, a black grip cap, and comes complete
with the 10/22 brass escutcheon pre-installed.
This stock is compatible with Ruger 10/22 guns
that have the bull barrel (.920) contour. It is NOT compatible with
the factory sporter barrel.
