Blackwater Hunting Services is located in the Low Country of South Carolina, an area well known for its southern hospitality and abundance of wild game. This area also has very liberal game limits and lengthy hunting seasons.

Blackwater is different from most commercial hunting operations because of the very small number of hunters that will be allowed to hunt per day.  Blackwater consists of several different tracts of land encompassing rivers, swamps, creeks, planted pines, hardwoods and cut overs along with some warm and cool season food plots planted exclusively for wildlife. These plots are planted in cow peas, wheat, chufa, etc. In addition to these planted food plots, corn is put out at deer stands on a weekly basis beginning well in advance of the deer season and stopping well ahead of turkey season. All of these factors contribute to Blackwater's prime wildlife habitat.

Deer Hunting:
  Deer Hunts begin early enough so that you can enjoy a continental breakfast. Then you will be taken to your stand before daybreak. You will be hunting from elevated tower stands, ladder stands, climbing stands, equipped with rifle rests. Our deer stands are comfortable and most accommodate two hunters.
  All stands will be corned at least once a week; there will be a few exceptions at the first of the season for stands that have food plots, such as peas planted at them, when corn isn't necessary. You will be picked up at a designated time, have game taken care of and then lunch. Afternoon hunts will begin 4 to 5 hours before sunset and you will be picked up just after dark.
  You may harvest two deer per day, but only one per sitting. Doe tags will be available starting September 15th. There is no additional fee for Doe tags. See our price list for current listings.

Turkey Hunting:
  Turkey hunts begin early enough in the morning so that you can enjoy a continental breakfast before your personal guide takes you hunting for the most exciting game bird in North America. At first light, you will be in prime turkey habitat listening for the thunder of a big gobbler. Once sighted, watching that big gobbler strut, drum and gobble to the call of your guide is the thrill of a lifetime.  
  These hunts usually end mid-morning (around 10:00am), but will vary throughout the season. We allow one opportunity for a shot (a kill or a miss) on each morning and afternoon hunt in an effort to eliminate the possibility of "crippling" or "spooking" the gobblers.

Lodging:
  Our lodge consists of 4 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms and will be able to comfortably accommodate 8 hunters. A welcoming Great Room with Satellite TV, a fireplace, and a roomy front porch will be a nice place to relax and share your hunting "stories".
  Completing our lodge will be a dining area and kitchen where our cooks prepare delicious, southern-style meals. There is no better way to complete your hunt than to have a quality conversation about the day's productive hunt over a delicious supper! Game Cleaning
Deer: All deer will be taken to one of the local processors for cleaning and quartering or processing at their cost. Processors approximate cost: Clean and quarter...........$30.00 Clean and process...........$60.00 Clean and process with sausage..........$73.00 Add $10.00 to any of the above costs for any deer that is caped for taxidermy purposes. Turkey: We will gladly skin your gobbler at no cost.
Hunting Licenses
All hunters are required to have a valid South Carolina Hunting License and Big Game Permit to hunt deer and turkey. Anyone born after 1979 must have a valid Hunters Safety Course ID to hunt in the state of South Carolina. Hunting License and Big Game Permits are not included in the prices of our hunts. Out of State Hunting License Prices: 3 day license........$140.00 (3 day hunting license $40.00 & Big Game Permit $100.00) 10 day license........$175.00 (10 day hunting license $75.00 & Big Game Permit $100.00) Yearly license........$225.00 (Yearly hunting license $125.00 & Big Game Permit $100.00) Deer Hunters must have hunting license, big game permit. Turkey Hunters must have hunting license, big game permit and turkey tags.
