General Info About Us:

Located in Hampton County, South Carolina, where whitetail deer populations and harvests have traditionally been number one or two statewide throughout the history of deer hunting, Buck Run Hunting Lodge, LLC offers the serious whitetail hunter an experience he will never forget.

We offer early season hunts for velvet antlered bucks, and during the regular season you can harvest a buck and doe each morning and evening of every day you hunt! That's no misprint, that's four deer per day! Our season runs from August 15th thru January 1st annually, offering the longest and most liberal deer season in the entire nation.

With more than 40 years of whitetail deer hunting experience in the South Carolina Low Country by owner Pete Simmons, we ensure every guest at Buck Run will have a very high quality hunt. At Buck Run we know that each of our guests are here for one basic reason: to harvest game and enjoy themselves doing it! Every effort is put forth to increase our guests success in doing just that.

Careful prehunt planning and preparation on our 7,500 acres of deer hunting properties is all part of the daily routine at Buck Run. Hunter satisfaction is of utmost importance to us. To ensure the personal touch, all deer hunts at Buck Run are personally guided and limited to a maximum of thirteen (13) persons each hunting period (For unguided hunt information see section on our satelitte Five Points Lodge). Ideal for the husband/wife, father/son, entire family, church or civic groups, small business or corporate executive, we cater to the individual need of each of our guests. Exclusive family hunts are our specialty!

DEER HUNTING:

Buck Run Hunting Lodge offers:
- Early Season Velvet Buck Hunts
- 2 Bucks and 2 Does per Day in regular season!

In general, all deer hunting at Buck Run is done from elevated stands or tower blinds from heights of 12 to 24 feet. All stands are strategically located over natural food plots and agricultural fields of soybeans/peas, wheat/rye and corn, or in prime hardwood flats and bottoms where deer frequently feed, scrape and rub. Shots generally range from 30 - 75 yards in wooded areas and up to 300 yards on agricultural fields. Rifles of .243 minimum caliber are required and should be zeroed at 100 yards. After arrival and before any hunting activity takes place, each guest will be required to check his rifle zero at our sight range!

Even though temperatures in late August and early September are quite warm, hunters have an excellent opportunity to bag velvet-antlered deer of all sizes, many in the trophy class. Traditionally, the opening of deer season on August 15th annually offers tremendous whitetail deer hunting when deer activity is at one of the highest levels of the year. During this time of year, whitetail bucks are known to travel and feed in groups of two or more. Sightings of 8 -10 together are not uncommon.

TURKEY HUNTING:

GOBBLERS ONLY - March 15th to May 1st
2 per day - 5 per season

**96% Average Shooting Opportunity last 10 years*

If you've never experienced the hoot of a Great Horned Owl, the thundering gobble of a spirited old Tom still in his roost tree, the flapping of his wings as he flies down to soft clucks, purrs and yelps and the vibrations of the ground as he struts and drums toward your well-hidden position; you've never experienced real hunting. For those of you who are turkey hunters, you know exactly what I'm talking about.

turkey06_A.jpg (43896 bytes) turkey06_B.jpg (42578 bytes) turkey06_C.jpg (44545 bytes) turkey06_D.jpg (44436 bytes)

To challenge an Old Boss Gobbler and win is probably one of the greatest feats in all of hunting. Turkey populations on Buck Run properties are at an all-time high due to several years of high hatch and survival rates. With a little luck and the help of mother nature to provide good weather conditions, one should enjoy a great turkey hunting experience.

WILD HOG HUNTING:

Enjoy low country hog hunting in a totally natural environment! All hogs are naturally wild and roam the swamps freely! Hogs have never been released on any of Buck Run's properties and continue to increase in numbers annually. This is why we are able to offer to hunters unlimited hog harvest on every hunt.

Like our deer hunting, all hog hunting at Buck Run is done from elevated stands. Occassionally, with the wind in our favor we will stalk through the bottoms in hope of spotting elusive boars while they are up feeding or trailing. We offer exclusive hog hunting during what we consider to be the best months to harvest a trophy wild boar in the colder, wet months of mid-December thru the first week of March. Combination hunts of wild boar and any other game animals, or birds, can be arranged within season also.
