ABOUT US:
Established in 1985, Moree's has become a top hunting
destination offering a variety of outdoor sporting options. It's 25 and
50 acre upland game ranges offer diverse terrain in carefully cultivated
meadows with lush cover. Rolling hills make a natural-like habitat for
the birds and create easy walking for shooters.
QUAIL:
Bobwhite Quail, is the specialty at Moree's. These plump little
birds have the most widespread range of any quail species, with over 20subspecies ranging from Canada
to southern Mexico. It is a game bird whose quick noisy rise from the
brush and swift departure offer the best in wing shooting. It is a small
bird weighing 5 to 7 ounces. Although quail may create a false impression because of their
many short, fast flights when flushed, their normal range is one-fourth of a
mile, which makes them exciting targets
CHUKAR:
The chukar was imported to the US in the 1930's from the Himalayas
in Nepal and finds its US base in the Rocky Mountains. A member of the
partridge family, the chukkar is a larger, meatier bird than the quail.
Our chukkars are raised on well-equipped farms, under a carefully
controlled environment. They are specially conditioned to be good flyers
and challenging sporting targets. Good eating.
PHEASANT
The Chinese ring- necked pheasant is one of
America's favorite game birds and is the best known of the pheasant species.
Not only is this bird a good flyer, but it is also meaty and flavorful for
cooking...nice to take home after the hunt. This bird is a favorite at Moree's
DEER:
Whitetail Deer are crafty animals with a keen sense
of survival. Whitetail populations afford ample opportunities for bagging a trophy
wall hanger. Past seasons have 100%success rate for seeing deer and 90% kill rate.
TURKEY:
South Carolina wild turkey hunting is the among the
latest addition of seasonal big game at Moree's. We have hundreds of acres of
prime turkey hunting preserve. It is not unusual to see 10 to 15 toms strutting in
supplemental feed lots.
FISHING:
Our fishing activities have grown to include 18 ponds on
our property stocked with a combination of catfish, bass and bream. Our
main catfish pond is 2.5 acres and has been stocked with over 20,000pounds of 6-60 pound
beauties. Many of our ponds have a managed balanced of stocked bass and
bream to insure premier action while promoting aggressive growth with our
fish. Many bass over 10 pounds and even more bream weighing over 2.5pounds have been caught at Moree's
SPORTING CLAYS:
Sporting Clays have become a main attraction at Moree's. The presentations include: teal,
rabbit, incoming, outgoing, quartering and crossing shots, with 2 trap throws per stand.
GOLF PACKAGES:
To round out a perfect outdoor excursion, Moree's offers an attractive golf package with nearby
Cheraw State Park Golf Club, a challenging and breath taking beautiful
facility. Golf Package Cheraw State Park Golf Course is located on US 52 North of Cheraw (just 8miles from the Preserve). The 6,928
yard Championship layout was designed by Tom Jackson and has been awarded 3 1/2
stars by Golf Digest for places to play. Par 72Course rating/slope: Blue 73.4/130White 70.8/120
LODGING:
A newly constructed Club House is headquarters for Moree's, and features a
spacious and luxurious hunter's lounge with large screen satellite TV,
modern kitchen facilities and in-house lodging accommodations.
OUR LOCATION:
Located on approximately 1,200 acres of South Carolina's Chesterfield
County, our 25 to 50-acre ranges have been carefully landscaped and cultivated
to produce an all-weather terrain suitable for maximum hunting enjoyment regardless
of the weather conditions. There is easy access via US-52, 1-95 and1-20. A commercial airport is located
in Florence, SC, about 30 miles away, and a county jetport with a 5,000 ft. paved
runway located within 10 miles of the preserve. Automobile transportation can be provided
to and from airports.
